DigiPlus Interactive has launched five online games built around one of the Philippines’ best-known horror-film properties, turning local intellectual property into a new content and retention strategy for its gaming platforms.
The titles became available on BingoPlus on 22 October under a partnership with film producer Regal Entertainment, according to GGRAsia’s report of the company announcement. DigiPlus plans a phased rollout across ArenaPlus and GameZone.
Five titles, one recognisable Filipino franchise
The launch comprises “Manananggal”, “Reyna Ahas”, “Triple Terror”, “LRT Monster” and “Aswang”, drawing on the long-running “Shake, Rattle & Roll” film series. The first film was released in 1984, with the Philippine Film Archivedocumenting its anthology format and folklore-based characters.
The portfolio also illustrates how operator-led local content can involve specialist suppliers. Yellow Bat’s product catalogue identifies “Reyna Ahas” as a low-volatility 3×3-and-4 slot with a 25,000x stated maximum win, while OmniPlay describes “Triple Terror” as a free-games title with multiple features capable of triggering together. Those mechanics are supplier-published specifications, not independent IGI performance findings.
DigiPlus says the games support a broader push into proprietary and locally developed content. The group’s head of localisation, Ray DeGuzman, said slots account for about 80% of current localisation work. The company expects to release more than 30 localised games in 2026 and is considering a substantially larger pipeline next year, although its suggested 60-game figure was presented as an ambition rather than formal guidance.
The next pipeline is already forming
DigiPlus has secured rights to two additional, currently undisclosed IPs for 2027. The first is expected to support at least nine games in the opening quarter, with the second scheduled to begin rolling out during the second quarter. A locally themed crash game is also planned for December, alongside exploration of arcade-style formats.
The strategy matters beyond a single themed release. DigiPlus operates distinct gaming brands spanning digital bingo, sportsbook and card-led entertainment. Reusing licensed Filipino IP across those distribution points can lower the cost of audience education, create coordinated campaigns and give external studios a route into a regulated domestic operator ecosystem.
Our view: local IP is becoming a real product layer in Philippine online gaming, not merely decorative artwork. The test will be whether recognisable characters improve acquisition and retention enough to justify licensing and development costs. We expect competitors to pursue similar entertainment partnerships, but the advantage will go to operators that match the IP with mechanics suited to their audience rather than simply reskinning generic slots.
